cy.jpg (12225 bytes)Visiting Island highlights such as Wat Chalong, Phuketcy2.jpg (10358 bytes)'s most revered monastery, Khao Rang and Rawai Beach. Then proceed to Phromthep Cape for spectacular views. Visit Century-old Sino-Portuguese building.

Sino-Portuguese Mansions
This description is given to several score houses set in grand gardens and built by Chinese moguls, often about 100 years ago at the height of the tin mining boom. The name reflects the influences of Chinese owners building in European style in Singapore and Malaysia, where the Portuguese had set the first standards for grand tropical mansions.. In fact, most of the Sino-Portuguese buildings in Phuket town were built by Italians, whom the wealthy Chinese employed. They also imported many of the materials, like tiles and fittings, from Italy.

Old building

Built more than 100 year, these building portray Thai characteristic and heritage although architecturally they are blend of Chinese and European styles.  Connoisseurs have dubbed the buildings "Sino Portugeses" as they are not so tall with accent on depth more than on width.  the doors and windows have handicrafted patterns of fine workmanship.  If you happen to be on Deebuk road, look for these buildings and you will be delighted.

Rang Hill (View Point of Phuket Town)

This provides a pleasant view of town while dining, and has a Fitness Park, a series of hillside sculptural tableaux which enhance calisthenics.

Antique Buildings
Rawai Beach

Site of the Chao Ley or Sea Gipsy village, many restaurants and bungalows, shell handicraft shops, and both fishing and charter boats to the nearby islands. The beach itself is suitable for swimming. Rawai is 7 kms. west of Chalong Circle.

Phromthep Cape

This cape is located at the southern tip of Phuket island. Easily accessible by car, the top part of this cape is plain having a high cliff along the edge of the sea.  From this point you can look out  to the sea and islands nearby.  Many tourists come here  particularly in the evening to see the sun setting below the horizon.  They say that Phromthep cape offers the best view.
