Most of industries in Phuket province are just small size enterprises according to the 9
industrial types of the province including agricultural industry, construction industry,
food and beverage industry, transformed wood industry, textile/garment, chemical
and plastic industry, metal and non-metallic industry, service industry, and others. |

In 2000, BOI promoted 6 start-up projects in Phuket province with a total investment value
of approximately Baht 218 Million for an overall employment among 867 persons. When
compared with the years 1999-2000, the numbers of projects receiving investment promotion
in 2000 was increase of 50.0 % and a total investment value in 2000 when compared with the
year 1999 was 105.7 % increased. |

investment of about Baht 5,119,973,945, providing an employment of 7,619 workers: |
1. Agricultural
industry - 15 factories, under an investment worth Baht 377,409,000, providing an
employment of 164 workers
2. Construction industry - 35 factories, under an investment worth Baht 272,089,500,
providing an employment of 544 workers
3. Food & Beverage industry - 51 factories, under an investment worth Baht
1,107,576,548, providing an employment of 1,251 workers
4. Transformed wood industry - 56 factories, under an investment worth Baht 94,876,000,
providing an employment of 670 workers
5. Garment/Textile industry - 1 factory, under an investment worth Baht 4,800,000,
providing an employment of 25 workers
6. Chemical and plastic industry - 5 factories, under an investment worth Baht
103,080,000, providing an employment of 238 workers
7. Metal and non-Metal industry - 18 factories, under an investment worth Baht

Most of the industrial sites in Phuket province are in Muang Phuket District, or about 65
factories, under an investment worth Baht 2,017,044,330, providing an employment of 804
workers, followed by Thalang District or 12 factories, under an investment worth Baht
414,024,882, providing an employment of 73 workers. There is only 1 factory in Kra Thu
District, under an investment worth Baht 20,000,000, providing an employment of 12
workers.
