Most
restaurants add a 10 percent service charge to the bill but an additional 5 to 10 per cent
may be given, where deserved. When a service charge is not automatic,10 per cent is
acceptable. Small tips may also be given to taxi drivers, bellboys, or roommaids.
Shopping Trip
Many
people say that shopping in Thailand is a kind of art. Some tourists purchase the same
things at different prices - it depends on one's shopping skills. However, you can get the
things you need at reasonable prices after you have studied the tips below.s
1. All things in department stores are sold at fixed prices.
2. At most other places, bargaining is acceptable.
3. Do not let any "new-found friend" take you go shopping they are
probably on commission from the shopkeepers.
4. Buy things because you need them, not because you are convinced by sellers.
5. Take some time to shop around in order to compare prices before purchasing.
6. If you are not knowledgeable about the things you would like to purchase, especially
jewelry, you had better buy at reputable stores, in other words, shops in hotels or in
department stores. However, the prices there will be higher than other stores on the
streets.
7. When you have found something you want, do not show that you really need it because you
will have more difficulty in bargaining; just take your time to talk to the seller nicely,
and try to bargain. Remember that Thais appreciate good manners and a sense of humor. Be
more patient for a better price.
Now, it is about the time to go shopping. Here you go! |
